What are the 10 most read articles of 2021? Between controversies, news and insights, let's see which articles our audience has read the most.

Like every year, on December 31 we unveil which were our most read articles of the past year.
In 2020 we had seen the success of many in-depth articles, while in 2019 the protagonists were the articles on the controversies.
In 2021, however, we first notice a big news: the significant increase in the US and / or Anglophone audience, and therefore the success of the English version of many of our articles.

2021 was a year of great change for Seekers, of reorganization and experimentation.
We therefore want sincerely thank all the people who have read and followed us during our third year of activity. Your support means a great deal to us.
So let's go and see the 10 most read articles of 2021!

WRITERS AGAINST FANFICTIONS: THE DARK TIMES OF FANDOMS

Seeing this article in the top 10 of 2021 is one thing we never expected.
In fact, when it was written in 2019, this article didn't get much echo. However, this year it has been read a lot in its English version, especially in the last couple of months. That may have been brought to the fore by the death of Anne Rice, which is talked about a lot in the article?
It's hard to say for sure what made him take off, but we're certainly happy to see him here!

BOBA FETT AND BODY-SHAMING: ARE WE ENOUGH?

In eighth place of the 2021 ranking we find another article from the end of 2020, written during the second season of The Mandalorian.
This insight into the body-shaming suffered by Temuera Morrison, interpreter of Boba Fett, immediately had a considerable success. In fact, already in 2020 he was ranked 7th in the ranking.
This year, also due to the release of The Book of Boba Fett, we continue to talk about the character and the actor. Let's hope we don't have to write another one and that people behave better.

ANSWERS ON THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS: OTTAVIO FATICA IN PARMA

Although this year we have finally put a stone on the controversy (and to the complaint) on the new translation de The Lord of the Rings, the matter continues to be sought after.
In fact, in seventh place in this ranking we find a in-depth analysis of January 2020 on the new translation, which last year was in first place among the most read articles. The article reports the words of Ottavio Fatica, the new translator, during a meeting held at the University of Parma.
In short, perhaps the war on Tolkien is now over, but certainly many continue to talk about it.

SPECULATION ON THE LORD OF THE RINGS: A JOURNEY AMONG THE "UNAVAILABLE" EDITIONS AT € 500 EACH

In sixth place we find another article from the 2020: an in-depth study on economic speculation on the old Italian editions of The Lord of the Rings!
In fact, after the dispute between the first translator, Vittoria Alliata, and Bompiani, all copies of the first translation of The Lord of the Rings were withdrawn from the market. At the moment, therefore, it is possible to buy in bookstores only the new translation of the work, made by Ottavio Fatica. The first translation, on the other hand, can only be found in flea markets and on Ebay.
The point is that last year the prices on Ebay were very high: copies of the illustrated edition, for example, even reached € 500.
If you want to know how the situation is this year, we have written a second in-depth study at this link!

Great success also in 2020 (fourth place), in fifth place in the 2021 ranking is the in-depth analysis of Marta Palvarini (author of Dura-Lande) on the Space Marines women in Warhammer 40.000.
Long article, which deals in depth with the lore of the famous RPG and wargame, Female Space Marine is an article that we are proud to have on our site.
Unfortunately, a significant number of haters took this article as a good reason to insult the author and flame our editorial team's Facebook page. We just tell these haters to grow up and no, your insulting comments will never be posted on this site. You know, we have gods standard.
Female Space Marine in 2020 it had depopulated in its Italian version, while in 2021 its English version was very successful.

GINA CARANO, BETWEEN BODY-SHAMING, CONSTRUCTION AND TRANSPHOBIA: LET'S CLEAR

Yes, our most read article ever in 2021 is a special we wrote at the end of 2020, during the airing of the second season of The Mandalorian.
At the time Gina Carano, interpreter of Cara Dune in the series on Disney +, had not yet seen her contract of employment not renewed by Disney / Lucasfilm. However, several problematic claims of his had begun to rise to the attention of fans. Between nasty teasing towards transgender people, post conspiracy theorists about the uselessness of masks during the pandemic and about the possible fraud of the US elections, Carano made chilling statements.
This article was mostly read in its version English.

Let's sum up the 10 most read articles of 2021

In short, in 2021 we see two main things.
The first is that the audience that reads us in English has increased, and therefore now in the top 10 there are many of our articles translated into English (Female Space Marine, Gina Carano, Boba Fett, How to draw a river). The Italian public, however, is not in the minority, and still makes itself heard. In fact, several articles in this top 10 concern facts that only affect Italy (New translation of The Lord of the Rings, Speculation on The Lord of the Rings).
The second is that many of our articles from 2020 and 2019 still have a lot of following and are widely read. In many cases these are articles that have never lost their initial charm (Female Space Marine, Gina Carano), while in others they are minor items that have gradually grown considerably (Writers against fanfiction, Politically correct).

At the end of 2020, we asked ourselves: will the trend where the most popular articles are insights persist in 2021?
Well, having arrived at 31 December 2021 we can give an answer: yes, the insights continue to be read and followed. The most interesting thing, then, is that it seems that the insights continue to be read even years later!
So yeah: it's not the 500-word news bulletin on the clickbait topic of the day that rewards, but it's the long and carefully done insights that pull. Furthermore, talking about "niche" issues does not necessarily lead to anything: you never know when they can attract the attention of an audience that we did not know existed (pokemon xenoverse, Writers against fanfiction, How to draw a river)!

The question for the Seekers of 2022

We therefore want to greet 2021 with a question for the Seekers of December 31, 2022: Will there be items from 2021 that will have unexpected success?
See you next year for the answer!
