What is the Lucca Comics & Games Online Role Donors project and the National Transplant Center, with the collaboration of Players VS Coronavirus?

Last year we told you about the Players VS Coronavirus collective, on the occasion of their online role-play sessions to counter the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, however, Players VS Coronavirus will collaborate with Lucca Comics & Games and the National Transplant Center in a new awareness project: Online Role Donors!

In this article we will talk about the Online Role Donors project, its objectives and the fun activities that will be proposed to you.

Online Role Donors and raising awareness of organ and tissue donations

As described also on the Lucca Comics & Games website, Donatori di Ruolo Online is part of the #donatoridiruolo project.

The first phase of the project: #donatoridiruolo and RPG Night Live

#donatoridiruolo, which you can read more about Thu, is the contribution of Lucca Comics & Games / Lucca Changes to “We give the best of us”, ie the national campaign for the donation and transplantation of organs and tissues. Therefore, #donatoridiruolo was carried out in collaboration with the National Transplant Center and started on 15 October 2020.

Initially, #donatoridiruolo consisted of a series of appointments on the Twitch channel RPG night live, in which Nicola DeGobbis of Need Games facilitated Cyberpunk Red to a number of prominent guests, for a total of three role-playing sessions.

Currently, however, #donatoridiruolo has entered a new phase, namely that of Online Role Donors, in collaboration with the collective Players VS Coronavirus.

The new phase of the project in collaboration with Players VS Coronavirus

In 2020, Players VS Coronavirus was created by the association Other When Onlus for, quoting their words, “shorten distances, avoid isolation and allow as many people as possible to play together”. Furthermore, one of the collective's goals was to make their online role-play sessions a permanent event, so that immunosuppressed people could always play safely.

This year, however, Players VS Coronavirus collaborates with Lucca Comics & Games and with the National Transplant Center to propose a series of online role-playing sessions. The peculiarity of these sessions will lie in the fact that they will generally focus on the theme of organ and tissue donation. In this way, it is hoped to sensitize the community of players and role-players to the topic, using the game as a medium.
